I came home earlier than you thought I would.
I came home early so we could try to talk things out, try to work out our differences. I was through being mad and defensive, I wanted to work through it.

I came home just in time to hear you tell your friend on the phone, "I'm going to move out. I don't want to try and make this work anymore."
